Gros Morne National Park is full of activities and entertainment. Rocky Harbour is the perfect base for a trip to Gros Morne because it is the most centrally located town, it has the most amenities, the views are spectacular and it has a quaint small-town feel. Instead of packing up every day and moving, the entire Gros Morne area (and beyond) can be easily explored from Rocky Harbour. To cover all areas and to allow time for bad weather (it happens on occasion), we recommend a stay of at least three nights. If you don't have that much time, you will still get to see a lot; it just means you'll have an excuse to come back!
When you reserve with us we will provide a detailed list of our favourite activities, but here is a brief overview. Come and see what all the fuss is about!
There are hundreds of kilometers of trails in Gros Morne, and they range from short and easy (wheelchair accessible) to long and strenuous. No matter your fitness level or ability, there are multiple trails that will keep you busy for a few days.
There are at least three different boat tours in Gros Morne, and they allow you to see various landscapes and areas that you wouldn't otherwise see. The scenery is breathtaking and the experience is great.
Another way to get on the water. There are options for beginners and experts, fully guided and self guided. Lots of fun!
The Gros Morne Wildlife Museum has been in operation for 10 seasons and it gets you up close to Newfoundland's wildlife. There are over 100 full-size animals in amazingly authentic scenes. It also has a fantastic gift shop with unique items made from abundant renewable resources. "Gros Morne's best kept secret!" www.GrosMorneWildlifeMuseum.ca
There is a variety of concerts, kitchen parties and live theatre in Rocky Harbour and the surrounding areas. There are under 19 and 19+ options. The talent in this area is incredible.
